Her Story
Mrs. Almy owns a Creative Graphic Design and Painting Studio in Sherborn, MA known as Kristiina Almy Art and Design.
Before opening her business, she attended University where she received a BS in studio art, with a Minor in Art History. After school, she worked in an office in Boston for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA), as an in-house graphic designer for one of their departments. After that contract was completed, she worked as a graphic designer and project manager for a graphic design company in Boston for twelve years, until her son was born. She then took a pause from working as a graphic designer to be a mother of two.
Ever since, she has taken her business far, while taking on freelance design projects and painting, when she has the time. She has been employed for a wide range of projects: print design, web design, brand identity, as well as painting and illustration commissions. She considers the best thing about her job to be that she is able to do what she loves!
Outside of making and experiencing art, Mrs. Almy enjoys traveling and being in nature. She would describe herself as “Focused, down to earth, and creative.”
Her main inspirations in life are her mother, an artist, and her father, an architect. They have guided her to appreciate art and be the person she is today.
Her Advice to Young People
Mrs. Almy advises young people to take classes or intern to see if art is a field they would want to pursue.
From her experience, the field of art is always changing with new technological advancements. It is crucial that artists are willing to change with time!
