Mrs. Laura Robbins
Mother, Aunt, Friend, Sister, and Wife
Farmer and Entrepreneur
Her Story
Mrs. Robbins is the owner of the Wild Robbins Farm in Sherborn, MA. Before starting this farm, she worked a corporate job. Eventually, she decided to take the huge risk of leaving the corporate world to start her business. Ever since doing so, she has had no regrets and has given a beautiful and popular animal farm to Sherborn. She is heavily inspired by the many female farmers and business owners who are paving the way in the world.
Early Life
Mrs. Robbins was raised in Wellesley, MA. Throughout her teenage years, she worked at the Natick Community Farm where she “had the absolute best time and felt so much empowerment." After college, Mrs. Robbins worked as a Theater Director in New York. She had a small theater business where she raised money for each show. This fundraising aspect was something she found to be a thrill. In New York, she also worked in restaurants where she fell in love with food.
She soon transitioned into raising money and planning events in St. Louis, to support her husband who was receiving his Master’s Degree. Meanwhile, she was engaging herself with her passion: Farming. While working, she tried to learn as much as she could about chickens and the agriculture industry.
Wild Robbins Farm
In 2019, she and her husband established the Wild Robbins Farm in Sherborn. Once the COVID-19 pandemic arose, she began working remotely for her corporate company which was not all too interesting to her. Like many others during the pandemic, she was soon laid off from her job and struck with a difficult and "bittersweet" decision to make: “Do I continue in the corporate world or do I make a run, running my own business and selling our meat?”
This question, while difficult, was one that she knew the answer to. She had spent years falling in love with farm-raised food, had a “passion to be around animals,” and was interested in finance.
Today, working with her animals and building the Sherborn community brings her great joy. She is thrilled to operate her farm where she provides various goods to the Sherborn community. On a typical day, she is caring for her animals, doing chores, running her business, and selling her farm-fresh products directly to her consumers.
She says that “Sherborn has been welcoming and it has been empowering." As an avid hiker, Sherborn’s trails and nature are something that she is grateful for.
